TFP

Oh yay, I went for the puppet play called "First Family" by The Finger Players.

Casts:
Tan Beng Tian - The Minister
Oliver Chong - Youngest Daughter
Karen Tan - 3rd Daughter
Jean Ng - 2nd Daughter
Goh Guat Kian - Mother
Low Kah Wei - 1st Daughter
Ong Kian Sin - 4th Daughter
Claire Devine - 5th Daughter
Julius Foo - The Prince

I loooooove the play too much. Talking about the backstage, the blending of the shadow puppetry and the actors are like damn well. I LOVE the lightings as well. Personally I feel that the Lightings designer, Lim Woan Wen did a great job for the lights design. The part when they used damn strong lights and shine it on the audience is freaking well. Ying Wuen told us that that thing can be quite tricky. If you play with it well enough, the audiences like it. If you dont, they will hate it. So yea, thumbs up for the lights designer.

Those people who didnt get a chance to watch it, it's your loss. Because Darren Ng, the sound designer for the play, is doing the operating the sound LIVE. It's always nice to see theatre plays where the sound is designed by Darren. I love the sounds damn loads. I have to say that he is awesome. I LOVE DARREN.

If I'm not wrong, the playwright, Chong Tze Chen should be CT. So, as for the story plot and directing, CT does a great job... as usual. The fighting scene between the Prince and the Mother was indeed very funny and the idea is perfect. Because if there was only the opera fighting alone, the whole show scene will be boring. It's good to add in Waltz, 1980's Dance and the scissors paper stone thingy. But during the quarrel scene among the 6 daughters, the atmosphere wasnt there. CT's set designs are also very simple, yet they can bring out the effects and nice blending effects.

Overall performance comments for the actors: I love it. Among all the actors/actresses, I love Kian Sin and Oliver the most. The 2 guys were acting as ladies! Kian Sin and Oliver didnt dissapoint me. Their acting were better than the previous show. Beng Tian's chinese is very good, and she acts as well as the other TFPs too. I love Goh Guat Kian(mothe), but I prefer her acting in the prev show. Julius Foo, another great actor that I must comment on. His role as the evil scheming prince is damn nice. He acts very well, but could be better if he pronunce his chinese words more properly. Great job guys!

The play is definetely worth of your money. 30 bucks, not wasted!

So speaking of the TFP, Ying Wuen have came up with another puppet show for the TFP. The branch of "Pigs can fly", this coming play is called "Miss Mouse". I'm definetely going to watch this show. Can't miss any TFP's plays, especially it's pure puppetry.
